    Description

This Mark 15 very lightly used and like brand new.  The foam in the case was missing when I purchased it and I replaced the foam.  It comes with everything...essentially basic instructions and an eye piece which can be replaced with a 3 power scope which is included. I used it for two months this summer developing a Celestial Navigation program and took many great shots of the Sun, Jupiter, Saturn and the star Vega. I am upgrading to a professional aluminum or brass sextant....a whole lot more money but I need it for testing my program.   I am selling this nice sextant for 0 with free shipping anywhere in America.
Included with this purchase is the Celestial Navigation Program.
You will receive a SanDisk USB flash drive that will boot your PC or laptop to a DOS environment and run this Celestial Navigation Program.  The flash drive is in essence your hard drive.  All the data created stays on the flash drive which you can use from computer to computer. The computer's hard drive is never accessed.  This Celestial Navigation Program was written in the 'C' programming language and will calculate and find your longitude and latitude using the Law of Cosines. If your computer runs windows or Linux, your computer will run this program.  This program may not run on an Apple Computer.

Only five resources are needed to plot a position.
    1. A sextant
    2. An accurate time piece
    3. A calculator
    4. Charting Tools
    5. This year's Nautical Almanac
This program is used to make the process easier.  A text file is created for each sight and this printable report is always available.
Understanding each step of the way in calculating your position on this beautiful planet Earth is essential and fulfilling.  Here is a link to one of the many primers found online.  It details sun, moon, planet and star sights which the program requires to calculate a position.
You do not need any Sight Reduction Manuals. The program does the math.

This primer should be downloaded, printed and digested.  It is a great tool leading to the understanding of Celestial Navigation.  For clarity and accuracy of calculations, the notes found on the left hand side of the screen take precedence over what you may read in this primer.
I live in the highlands of Arizona among the great Ponderosa Pines and practice shooting the sun, stars and planets using an artificial horizon which I built out on the South 40.  It is a permanent concrete structure where I can use a plate of water protected by glass for sun, moon or Jupiter shots or I can level a quality mirror using three adjustable levelers to take shots of the stars.  For the price of a dinner and a beer, you get this brand new SanDisk USB DOS bootable flash drive which contains this Celestial Navigation Program and to boot, I am here to support you in learning this great astronomy of celestial navigation which is so very useful as you cast your fate to the wind.
